Freddie Hughes — Send My Baby Back


Freddie Hughes was born in Berkeley, California on August 20, 1943. His impressive tenor voice was first noticed — you guessed it — at the church where his mother was active as a singer and a missionary.

In 1955 he began to appear at Oakland clubs, and in 1958 he released his first single. His first hit came in 1968 with Send My Baby Back .

He worked with such greats as Aretha Franklin, James Brown and Etta James.
